Portable Sink - Alternative Solution For Sink Maintenance

The bathroom sink or portable sink can be both functional and fashionable. The kind of care and maintenance you need to do largely depends on the material your sink has. Learn more about portable sinks

Enameled Cast Iron Sinks - These are made of solid cast iron, layered with a deep enamel surface. These sinks are extremely heavy, long lasting and resist almost any type of structural damage and are available in a wide variety of colors.

Never leave acid-based spills or acidic food to sit on the surface of the sink for a long time. Most porcelain iron sinks are not acid resistant and tends to discolor and even etch when exposed to harsh materials like acids for a long time. It may be best to use plastic or perforated mats to protect porcelain sinks from any damage.

Stainless Steel Sinks - Most are manufactured from 18 or 20 gauge steel and are very strong. Some are undercoated with a sound deadening material that reduces noise. A great option if you are looking for an urban, contemporary or modern styled bathroom.

Stainless steel sinks are relatively easy to clean and maintain. However, to prevent scratches, dents and to keep it looking new, you need to do regular maintenance on it. Clean your stainless steel sink with hand dishwashing liquid detergent and water, or a baking soda and water solution. Rinse thoroughly and use a soft cloth or paper towel to polish the surface. Do not use scouring powders or steel wool pads as they will surely scratch your sink. Use rubber or plastic mats to avoid pans and tableware from marking and scratching the surface. You can also add a small amount of vinegar or ammonia to achieve a more polished look.

Solid Surface Materials - Available in a variety of colors and can mimic granite and other high-end stones. They are heat and stain resistant. Though not completely scratch-proof, scratches do buff out easily.

Natural stones are porous so that certain substances may tend to stain your stone sink. Stone sinks also tend to absorb moisture if not properly protected. Because of this, it is best to wipe spills immediately and to avoid the build-up of by-products such as salt, lime, calcium or detergents. Stone sinks must be regularly cleaned using a sponge or a soft cloth with a non-abrasive neutral detergent and warm water, and rinsed thoroughly.

What do I want to be when I grow up

Many of my classmates want to be pilots, or firefighters, or even police officials. I for one want to be a construction worker. You know, those hardworking guys in hard hats, transforming barren land into shiny high rises.

For years, I have had this fascination of construction. Be it wood, cement or blocks, or the sheer magical architectural design or pithy civil engineering, I think construction is the key to development. I mean look at China. From 2001, Beijing has undergone a construction boom and now it is ready for the Olympics.

I met a friend of mine, Jim, who is a Los Angeles general contractor. I asked him about the work hours, the pay, the risks and of course the rewards. It seems he is as goofy as me when it comes to contractor work. We pored over his next project – a kitchen remodel Los Angeles gig. The countertops, the cabinetry, the flooring, we spent countless hours discussing about them.

Whether it is a Los Angeles bathroom remodeling project or a Riverside general contracting work, I dream of creating construction classics. Who knows, maybe one day I will be in HG TV? Let my firefighter and pilot friends dream of that!

This is a freelance writeup and is a work of fiction

It depends on several factors, determining whether you need a few choice additions or a full-on kitchen remodeling Los Angeles. Just make sure you don't overdo it. Look at your neighborhood. Fast And Healthy Techniques To Lose Weight

The summer months are in full swing, so it is time to pull out the shorts and swim suits for some time in the sun. Unfortunately, this time of year, many people are struggling with the notion of showing more skin because of unsightly extra pounds. For many individuals, this is a situation that is dealt with each summer season. However, there is no need to fret about getting into shape for the summer season. Starting slow is the best way to make a change for the better.

In order to start shedding some weight, there are a few simple tricks and strategies which you can start incorporating into your daily routine. Check out these quick and easy techniques for a slimmer you:

* Exercise. There's no avoiding the fact that exercise is the best way to reshape your body. Of course, losing weight isn't the only reason to stay active. Most doctors recommend a daily workout routine in order to maintain overall health.

Try starting a half-hour to hour daily workout routine. Make sure to start slow in order to avoid getting discouraged or injuring yourself. Also, don't forget to do weight training. Cardio is great for burning calories, but muscle increases the efficiency of your metabolism.

* Drink more water. People who do not get enough liquids tend to hold toxins in their body. Staying hydrated flushes all of the garbage out of your system. Once these harmful elements are removed, everything runs more efficiently. This can cause a person's complexion to clear, increase energy, and even get rid of a few pounds by stimulating the metabolism. In addition to cleaning the body, a consistent flow of water discourages the storage of water weight and keeps you from feeling bloated and heavy.

There are many different schools of thought on how much water an adult should ingest per day. Those that regularly participate in physical activity may need more than those who do not. The best bet is to ask a doctor and set a daily water goal.

* Simplify your drink order. Slowing down on the soda, juice, coffee or beer makes reaching your daily water goal easier. In addition to distracting you from H2O, these liquids add hundreds of calories on to each meal and provide little nutritional benefit. By sticking to ice water during lunch or dinner, you can enjoy your meal more thoroughly and cut about 200 calories a day out of your diet.

* Eat more. That's right! Eat more often. Many people sabotage their diets by starving themselves or only eating once a day. This sends the body into panic mode, and it will fight to hold onto every ounce of fat. Eating breakfast and having four or five small meals a day has the opposite effect. Once the body is used to the routine, it is more likely to burn energy reserves evenly throughout the day.

People who have many small meals a day also tend to eat more on average than those who choose to have one or two. The difference, however, is that these micro-meals tend to be healthier, like single servings of fruit or vegetables. These nutrient-rich foods fill you up with smaller portions and provide consistent energy. After a few weeks of eating more regularly, your body will begin to crave them.

* Make time for meals. How many meals do you take in the car, in front of the TV, or at your desk? These quick bites are detrimental to your weight. Slowing down and paying attention to what you eat can help you lose weight no matter what's on the menu. Sit down at a quiet table and spend at least 20 minutes eating your meal. You will eat more slowly and allow your body to tell you when it has had enough. This option is another great way to spend some time with family or friends.

* Lose Weight Safely. Remember that these tips can only work for you if they are followed consistently. Implement the changes slowly, and you will begin to make smart choices automatically. Don't become discouraged by the scale. Avoid weighing yourself everyday so that you don't worry about minor fluctuations. A healthy weight loss is rate is about one or two pounds a week. Any faster and your body is burning precious muscle instead of fat. In the end, losing weight is about becoming healthier. Make your health your top priority when setting your goals and pay close attention to your level of fitness.

Just a few changes to your eating habits and daily routine can kick start your weight loss journey. If you are serious about dropping pounds and staying healthy, make sure to consult your doctor before starting any serious fitness or diet program.

Tips To Keep Your Feet Healthy

Even though you depend on them everyday, chances are you pay little attention to your feet. Consumers spend millions of dollars of cosmetic products each year to smooth wrinkles, dissolve cellulite, and remove hair. Only a fraction of this cash is spent on pampering tired toes.

It might be a good idea to give this important part of your body its due. If you want to keep your feet looking and feeling their best, try a following these tips:

* Wash regularly. This may seem obvious, but no matter where you find yourself walking, chances are that your feet are near some unpleasant things. Grime built up between toes and under nails can lead to infection or odor. Even wearing closed shoes will not keep them clean. Shoes hold in moisture, sweat, and trap dirt and keep them close to the foot.

Give your feet a light scrub everyday in the bath or shower. Pumice stones can also be used to remove dead skin and keep the sole of the foot soft. If you would like to go the extra mile for your extremities, go to a salon for a spa pedicure. Technicians will wash, massage, moisturize, and pumice your feet before taking care of your toenails.

* Air out those toes. Don’t hide your feet! Show them to the world; they will thank you for it. People who wear shoes constantly and never allow their feet to dry can develop painful conditions. Try to avoid covering them during the night and go barefoot whenever possible.

Fresh air allows the foot to dry and slough off dead skin. Though it may be tempting to keep socks or house shoes on around the house during the winter, make sure to free those feet for a little while each day.

* Take care of your nails. Improper toenail trimming can lead to a lot of painful problems. Nails that are too long can be caught on things and torn off or even pushed back into the skin by the shoes. Also, nails that are cut too short or unevenly can promote infections in the nail bed or ingrown nails. Trim nails regularly, but make sure not to remove too much. When trimming at home, always use large toenail clippers and cut the nail in a straight line. Rounding the edges of the nail can encourage it to become ingrown.

Again, a pedicure is always a good way to do something good for your toes. A professional pedicurist can trim your nails and cut away overgrown cuticles. They can even paint your toenails for you.

* Wear proper footwear. Shoes save your feet from lots of unpleasant situations, but the wrong shoe can hurt more than help. If you happen to spend a lot of time standing or walking, unsupportive, misshapen, and too small footwear can put pressure on the structure of your foot. Overtime, toes can become distorted, the arch of the foot can fall, and bunions can be exacerbated. To avoid these problems, always wear appropriate footwear. For instance, buy proper running shoes for exercise and sports. If you stand at a counter all day for work, wear supportive shoes and request a floor pad. It may also be a good idea to have your feet measured by a shoe salesperson every few years to make sure you are wearing the right shoe size.

Never keep damp shoes on for long periods of time. The moisture can soften and crack the skin. After removal, allow the footwear to dry thoroughly so mold cannot take up residence inside. Also, try sticking to socks made from cotton blends that allow ventilation throughout the day.

* See a doctor about pain or fungi. If you begin to experience any pain, notice severe odor problems, itching, or thickening of the nails, go see your doctor or a podiatrist immediately. Treatments range from prescribed shoes, prescription drugs, therapy, or even surgery. It is best to take care of a developing affliction early in order to avoid serious consequences. Those who suffer from diabetes should examine their feet regularly for wounds and may need to get their nails cut by a medical professional.

* Relax. Remember that proper rest is good for every part of the body. Lay back and put your feet up once in a while. Lack of stress can have all sorts of benefits for your body.

Your feet take you everywhere you want to go. Give them the care and attention they deserve by keeping them clean and choosing your footwear carefully. You can do wonderful things for your feet by making slight adjustments to the things you do everyday. Stick to these simple tips in order to keep your feet in top-notch shape.
